Good morning, Forsyth County.

Does anyone else overthink things? I was watching the Artemis II launch yesterday, completely mesmerized at the thought of four Americans being sent around the moon. And then my brain did what it always does. How many people did it actually take to pull that off? Obviously a massive team at NASA. But then the contractors who built the rocket. The suppliers who provided parts and raw materials for the fuel. The person who made breakfast for the astronauts that morning.

Okay, so maybe I am the only one who thinks like that. But the point stands. Every one of those people played a role in something historic, and most of them will never see their name in a headline.

That is true closer to home too. As you go about your day doing what you do, you are contributing to something bigger. It may not feel like it since you cannot zoom out and see the full picture, but it is true. It might not be launching a rocket. But it might be putting Forsyth County in a position to be the best place to live for generations to come. And that is worth something.

Trade the Future. The Final Four Starts Saturday.

The Final Four is set: Arizona, Michigan, UConn, and Illinois all punched their tickets. But watching the games is only half the fun — what if you could put real money behind your predictions?

Kalshi is a federally regulated exchange where you buy and sell contracts based on the outcomes of real-world events. March Madness, elections, economic data, weather — if it's happening, there's probably a market for it.

I'm placing a trade on Arizona to cut down the nets. Their balance on both ends of the floor has been unmatched all tournament. But the beauty of Kalshi is you don't have to agree with me — you just have to have a take.

Sign up now and get $10 free to place your first trade. No fees on your first deposit. Browse all available March Madness markets here.

Forsyth County Commission takes first step toward lifting housing freeze

Forsyth County could begin reopening residential development when the Board of Commissioners meets today, April 2, to vote on releasing at least one zoning category from its year-long housing moratorium. The freeze was enacted in spring 2025 to give leaders time to rethink growth management in one of Georgia's fastest-growing counties. If approved, the vote would mark the first easing of the moratorium, a closely watched decision by homebuilders, developers, and residents tracking the county's rapid expansion. Additional zoning categories could follow in the coming months.

Kroger food drive keeps Forsyth County students fed during spring break

Local Kroger stores across Forsyth County partnered with community volunteers last weekend to collect food for students who rely on school meals during the academic year. The drive targeted food-insecure families ahead of spring break, when access to regular meals can become a challenge for children out of the classroom. Multiple Kroger locations participated in the effort, collecting donations from shoppers to help fill the gap. The initiative reflects a growing focus on childhood hunger in one of metro Atlanta's most affluent (but not immune) communities.

Community foundation opens first-ever grant cycle for Forsyth County nonprofits

The Forsyth County Community Foundation launched its inaugural grant cycle on April 1, offering $500 to $5,000 in funding to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in Forsyth County. The program was made possible by a $2 million investment and a $1 million commitment from the North Georgia Community Foundation matched dollar-for-dollar by longtime Forsyth philanthropist Tommy Bagwell. Both program-specific and general operational grants are available. Applications are open through April 30 at 5 p.m. via the NGCF grant portal at ngcf.org.

Forsyth County recruiting hundreds of poll workers for 2026 elections

The Forsyth County Department of Voter Registrations & Elections is calling on community members to serve as poll workers for the upcoming May and November 2026 elections. With the county's population continuing to climb, election officials say they need hundreds of volunteers to staff polling locations and keep wait times manageable. Poll workers receive paid training and a stipend for each election day worked. Interested residents can contact the department through the Forsyth County website at forsythco.com for details on how to sign up.
