Good morning, Forsyth County.
There was a time when Cumming went to sleep at 8:00 PM. If you were out late, you were probably just looking for a decent cup of gas station coffee. Fast forward to today, and the transformation is staggering. This weekend alone, we’re hosting a world-class Rough Stock Rodeo at the Fairgrounds and back-to-back tribute sets from Primal Crüe and Talk Dirty at the Lou Sobh Amphitheater. When you add the Farmers Market and the Dog Dayz event into the mix, it’s clear: we aren't that sleepy town anymore. The good news is there is something for everyone.

THE DIGEST
Forsyth County Schools rolling out real-time bus tracking for parents
Parents in Forsyth County will soon be able to track their children's school buses in real time, something families have been requesting for years. The Board of Education approved a partnership with BusRight, Inc. to install tablets across the district's 500-bus fleet. The devices will replace paper-based route directions for drivers and provide GPS tracking that parents can follow from their phones. The rollout begins on select buses before expanding district-wide. The move puts Forsyth County among a growing number of metro Atlanta districts modernizing student transportation with real-time technology.
State lawmakers return stricter term limits plan to Forsyth commissioners
Forsyth County's state legislative delegation has sent back a term limits proposal for county commissioners and it's tougher than what the board originally asked for. The Board of Commissioners has now made three attempts to secure a unanimous 5-0 vote of approval, most recently at the March 24 work session. The stricter version from state lawmakers signals that the delegation wants stronger guardrails on how long commissioners can serve. Details of the differences between the two proposals are still emerging, but the back-and-forth highlights an unusual tension between county and state officials on local governance.
County reports 4,700-gallon sewer spill in south Forsyth
Forsyth County's Water and Sewer Department contained a 4,700-gallon sewage spill that reached a tributary of Caney Creek in south Forsyth over the weekend. The spill, which occurred on March 22, was reported to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division on March 24 and has since been fully cleared. County crews worked through the weekend to clean up the affected area. Sewer spills of this size are required to be publicly reported under state law. Residents near the Caney Creek area are advised to avoid direct contact with the waterway until further notice.
