This weekend, Forsyth County has outdoor movies, live music, a farmers market, water slides, fitness classes, a charity barbecue, a music festival, and even a bocce tournament. There are so many events happening Saturday that you may have to choose between several of them.

And if you are the person who is always saying there is nothing to do, consider this your friendly challenge. Pick something, leave the house, and report back Monday.

Construction is underway on Peachtree Puttery Social House, a new entertainment complex off Peachtree Parkway in south Forsyth County. Developers held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday, August 10, for the project, which is part of a larger commercial development planned near Sentinel Chase Way. Plans call for a 31,800-square-foot entertainment center featuring more than 60 arcade games, 12 bowling lanes, eight axe-throwing lanes, five billiards tables and an 18-hole miniature golf course. The building is also designed with two restaurants, three bars, event space, a mezzanine and a rooftop deck. The broader development has also included plans for a five-story, 110-room hotel and a separate 16,000-square-foot retail building, adding another major entertainment destination to the growing south Forsyth corridor.

Forsyth County will hold two managed archery hunts this fall as part of its effort to reduce an overpopulation of white-tailed deer in south Forsyth. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. Monday, August 17. The first hunt, October 3-4, will be limited to 16 Forsyth County residents ages 10 to 17, each accompanied by an adult. A second hunt October 24-25 will offer spots to 16 county residents ages 18 and older. Both will take place on about 280 acres surrounding the Shakerag Water Reclamation Facility at 545 Kemp Road. The program began in 2024 in partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to address damage to landscaping and natural habitat, deer health concerns and deer-vehicle collisions. Participating hunters must meet licensing and equipment requirements and attend a safety meeting before the hunt.

Slim Chickens is preparing to open its first Metro Atlanta restaurant in south Forsyth County, taking over the former Steak ’n Shake at 2611 Peachtree Parkway. The roughly 4,000-square-foot building sits in Brookwood Marketplace, near Target and Home Depot. The Arkansas-based fast-casual chain specializes in made-to-order chicken tenders, wings, sandwiches, chicken and waffles, salads and a selection of house dipping sauces. The Forsyth location is part of a 10-restaurant North Georgia expansion led by Peach State Slims franchisees Lance Burns and Mike Waller, who also operate several Sonic restaurants. Their development agreement includes Forsyth, Cherokee, Hall and several other Georgia counties. The former Steak ’n Shake closed last October. An opening date for Slim Chickens has not yet been announced.

Halcyon Movie Series
When: Thursday, August 13, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
What: Halcyon is hosting an outdoor screening of Monsters University on the Village Green. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in for the movie. Snacks and other treats will be available for purchase, but outside food and drinks are not permitted.

Forsyth Creates: Library Junk Journal
When: Thursday, August 13, 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
What: Cumming Library is hosting an afternoon adult craft program centered around creating a junk journal. The event is part of the Forsyth Creates series, which offers hands-on projects and an opportunity for local adults to spend time creating alongside others.

Twilight Tales
When: Thursday, August 13, 6:30 PM – 7:15 PM
What: Families can wind down the evening with stories, music, and activities in the children’s area at Cumming Library. Twilight Tales is designed as a family-friendly evening storytime, and no registration is required.

MomCo Consignment Sale Preview Night
When: Thursday, August 13, 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM
What: Creekside Church’s MomCo Consignment Sale opens Thursday evening with a special preview sale before the regular Friday and Saturday shopping hours. Shoppers can browse secondhand children’s clothing, gear, toys, and other family items. Admission to Thursday’s preview is a $5 donation, and debit and credit cards are accepted. The sale also supports MomCo’s community outreach efforts. If you are a teacher, bring your educator ID and get in for free!

Summer Fridays in Forsyth
When: Friday, August 14, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
What: The Collection at Forsyth is easing into the weekend with live music on The Green. Participating restaurants will offer to-go cocktails and drink specials that guests can enjoy while strolling the property or listening from a lawn chair or blanket.

Back N Black: The Ultimate AC/DC Experience
When: Friday, August 14, 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
What: Back N Black will perform four decades of AC/DC favorites, including songs such as “Thunderstruck,” “Highway to Hell,” and “Back in Black.” Admission and parking are free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, but leave coolers and outside food or drinks at home.

MomCo Fall 2026 Consignment Sale
When: Friday, August 14, 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM and Saturday, August 15, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
What: Creekside MomCo’s annual Fall Consignment Sale returns with children’s clothing, shoes, toys, baby gear, car seats, nursery items, maternity wear, feeding supplies, home décor, and more. Friday is the first full day of shopping, while Saturday is the sale’s half-price day, with many items marked 50% off. Proceeds support Creekside MomCo and Confident Threads, a nonprofit that provides clothing for children in foster care throughout Forsyth County and surrounding communities.

Cumming Farmers Market

Bocce Split Pot Tournament

What: ATLBocce is bringing a round-robin and single-elimination tournament to Halcyon. Teams may have two to four players, and the advance entry fee is $10 per player, with part of the pot awarded to the top two teams. Check-in and practice begin at 12:30 PM.

Vickery Music Fest

2026 Blues and Q Charity Event

What: Forsyth County Community Connection is hosting an evening with a barbecue dinner, axe throwing, cornhole, raffles, a silent auction, and possible tethered hot-air balloon rides if weather permits. Proceeds support local work benefiting foster children, unaccompanied homeless youth, and other families. Tickets are required.

JIMMY CAV Project at the Lou Sobh Amphitheater

Visitors can check out displays of old tractors and engines while spending the day on the farm with fellow equipment enthusiasts. The club encourages families, friends, and anyone interested in vintage machinery and agricultural history to attend.

Rockin for a Reason: LANDSLIDE, A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac
