Good morning, Forsyth County,

I recently admired what I thought was a beautiful old dining table. It was long enough to seat five people comfortably on each side, with room for two more at either end. Drawers tucked neatly underneath made it even more interesting.

Rain did little to discourage the 280 participants who gathered at West Forsyth High School on Sept. 12 for Forsyth County’s ninth annual 9/11 Stair Climb. The event marked the 25th anniversary of the attacks with a physical act of remembrance: climbing stadium stairs to honor fallen heroes. Organizers set a challenge equivalent to 110 stories and planned name badges connecting each climber with someone being remembered. The effort also supported first responders closer to home. Registration and commemorative shirt proceeds were designated for B.A.D.G.E. of F.C.S.O. and The Benefit Fund, which assist local first responders in need. For Forsyth, the gathering paired remembrance with practical help, giving neighbors a way to honor past sacrifices while supporting those serving today.

North Forsyth volleyball has reached the end of its first round of region competition with a spotless record and an impressive distinction: every victory has been a sweep. The Raiders improved to 5–0 in Region 6-7A following Tuesday’s matchup at Lambert, completing their first pass through the league without surrendering a set. That gives North Forsyth a strong foundation as the region schedule continues. Winning every match is one measure of consistency. Forsyth County students received $65,000 in scholarships during a milestone year for the North Georgia Community Foundation, which awarded more than $1 million across its 2026 scholarship program. It is the largest scholarship total in the foundation’s history. Across the full program, 367 scholarships came through 99 donor-established funds supported by families, businesses and civic organizations. Recipients are attending 67 colleges and universities in 17 states, with 83 percent studying in Georgia. Behind those awards was a substantial community effort: 117 volunteer reviewers evaluated 2,366 applications. The regional numbers tell a story of broad support for education. Here in Forsyth, the $65,000 share makes that support tangible, helping local students pay for the next stage of their education.
