Good morning, Forsyth County.
A place can grow quickly and still feel hard to know. That is one of the things I have noticed about Forsyth County. So many people have chosen to make a life here, but connection does not happen automatically. That is one of the reasons I started the Forsyth Flyer.
Local information should not be hard to find. Residents should not have to dig through Facebook posts, government websites, school pages, event calendars, and paywalled news sites just to know what is happening nearby. The goal of the Flyer is to gather the useful parts in one place and turn them into a quick read you can finish with your morning coffee. That matters because local news is often practical before it is dramatic. A road project can change your commute. A county meeting can shape growth, parks, schools, or taxes. A new business can give your family somewhere new to try this weekend. A local event can help a neighbor feel a little more rooted here.
When people hear “the news,” they often think first about Washington, national headlines, or something happening overseas. National news may dominate the screen, but Forsyth County is where our daily lives are actually built.. The Forsyth Flyer exists to make this county easier to follow and easier to feel part of. It is free because useful local information should be easy to access. It is sent by email because Facebook does not reliably show people everything they want to see. It is also posted online because not everyone wants another message in their inbox.
Forsyth County is already a wonderful place to live. My hope is that the Flyer helps more people know it better.

Surgery Recovery Starts Before Surgery
Many patients prepare extensively for the procedure itself — but recovery preparation often gets overlooked.
Healing increases demand for nutrients involved in tissue repair, immune support, collagen production, and recovery. HealFast was designed specifically to support the body before and after surgery with physician-formulated nutritional support created for the recovery process.
Instead of scrambling afterward, many patients now prepare for recovery before surgery even happens.
Because supporting recovery starts long before the procedure is over.
THE DIGEST
Forsyth County Expands Water Treatment Capacity in North Forsyth
Forsyth County is marking a major water system upgrade in north Forsyth. County officials will hold a ribbon cutting at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 12, for the recently completed expansion of the Forsyth County Water Treatment Plant at 2255 Antioch Road. The project increased the plant’s peak treatment capacity from 33 million gallons per day to 40 million gallons per day. The facility currently produces more than 14 million gallons of drinking water on an average day, using conventional, membrane, and ozone filtration systems to help manage changing demand and water conditions. During a high-demand period in 2025, the plant produced 30 million gallons in one day. The roughly $21 million project included new treatment basins, membrane equipment, chemical storage, pumping capacity, sludge collection upgrades, and water quality improvements.
Super Chix Planned for Former Zaxby’s on McGinnis Ferry Road
A new chicken restaurant is coming to south Forsyth. Super Chix is planned for the former Zaxby’s building at 7140 McGinnis Ferry Road. The vacant restaurant space will be repurposed for the fast-casual chicken chain, giving the long-closed property a new use along one of south Forsyth’s busy corridors. Super Chix was founded in 2014 in Dallas, Texas, and has since grown to dozens of locations across the country. The Forsyth County restaurant would become the chain’s ninth Georgia location, joining others in Gainesville, Macon, Kennesaw, and Marietta. The menu focuses on chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, salads, fries, and frozen custard.
Forsyth County Schools Proposes $761.5 Million Budget
Forsyth County Schools has proposed a $761.5 million budget for fiscal year 2027, an increase of about $11 million over the current year. The proposed increase is smaller than last year’s 5% increase. The district’s millage rate would remain unchanged at 15.208 mills, where it has been since 2024. The budget includes funding for school nurses, student resource officers, wearable panic buttons, mental health resources, and additional salary steps aimed at retaining experienced teachers. It also accounts for state-required costs, including health care premium increases and literacy coaches for elementary schools. About 70% of the district’s operating budget is directed toward instruction and teachers. The school board is expected to vote on the budget June 23.

THANKS!
Thanks for reading the Forsyth Flyer!
Forsyth County moves fast. Events pop up, meetings get rescheduled, restaurants open, road work shifts, school news breaks, and good local stories can disappear in the scroll before most people ever see them.
That’s why the Flyer exists: to make it easier to know what’s happening close to home. If today’s issue helped you find something to do, understand something going on around town, or feel a little more connected to Forsyth County, send it to one person who’d appreciate it. A neighbor, a friend, a parent from school, a local business owner, or someone who still says, “I never hear about these things until it’s too late.”
And if you hear about something the Flyer should know just reply to this email. Reader tips are one of the best ways to make this newsletter more useful for everyone.
For updates that move faster than the newsletter, follow the Forsyth Flyer on Facebook and Instagram through the links at the bottom of this email. That’s where I’ll share last-minute events, cancellations, schedule changes, reminders, and quick local notes between issues.
Have a great week!
P.S. A few premium sponsorship spots are opening soon for local businesses that want to reach engaged Forsyth Flyer readers. Interested? Reply to this email or email [email protected].
