Good morning, Forsyth County.
I have a question for you today: What is your favorite restaurant in Forsyth County?
Not necessarily the fanciest place or the newest place. I mean the restaurant you keep going back to. The place where you already know what you are ordering before you walk through the door. Maybe it is a little family-owned spot, a reliable lunch counter, a date-night favorite, or somewhere that makes one specific dish better than anyone else.
Forsyth County has grown so quickly that it feels like there is always another restaurant opening, but the best recommendations still tend to come from people who actually live here.
So reply to this email and tell me your favorite local restaurant, along with what someone should order when they go. I may share some of the most popular answers in a future issue of the Forsyth Flyer.

Forsyth Hospital Introduces More Comfortable Brain Treatment Technology
Northside Hospital Forsyth has begun treating patients with an upgraded Gamma Knife radiosurgery system designed to improve comfort during certain brain and neurological procedures. The noninvasive treatment uses highly focused radiation beams to target brain tumors, metastatic disease, vascular malformations and other conditions affecting the head and upper neck. The new Esprit platform replaces the previous enclosed head frame with a more open design. Patients remain awake during treatment and can eat, drink and speak throughout the procedure. The updated technology can also shorten treatment times in some cases. Northside Hospital Forsyth treated its first patient with the new system on June 2. The hospital is one of only four in Georgia offering Gamma Knife treatment and has treated more than 2,100 patients since launching the program in 2015.
Georgia Art Company Bringing Paint-Your-Own Pottery to Forsyth County
Forsyth County is getting its first paint-your-own pottery studio when Georgia Art Company opens July 24 along Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Owners Todd and Christa Osterbrock created the business after years of visiting similar studios with their family and noticing that Forsyth County did not have one of its own. Customers will be able to choose a pottery piece, paint it in the studio and receive help from staff when needed. The studio also plans to host school fundraisers, homeschool and daycare groups, and off-site activities for nursing homes. Beer and wine will be available for guests 21 and older. Future additions may include take-home kits, sculpting, glass fusing and stoneware pottery as the business expands.
Plans Withdrawn for Proposed Keith Bridge Road Event Venue
Plans for a proposed special events facility on Keith Bridge Road have been withdrawn after eight months of review and continued opposition from nearby residents. The original proposal called for a 9,000-square-foot venue with outdoor features including a helipad, amphitheater, gazebo and waterfall area. A later version reduced the main facility to 6,000 square feet and added a 4,000-square-foot lodging building and 92 parking spaces while removing several of the outdoor amenities. Residents began organizing against the project after a public participation meeting in November and continued attending county meetings throughout the review process. The application was withdrawn without prejudice on July 13, meaning the property owner could submit a new proposal in the future. For now, however, the project known as The Venue will not move forward.
